Rites of Passage

One vital function of Religious Community is to provide the structure and support for the group to serve as witness to each other in times of joy and sorrow.  Weddings and baptisms and funerals are just a few ways we do this.  Rites of passage with youth, coming of age ceremonies, Children's Sunday,  pastoral care committees, commitment Sunday, holidays  and even flower communion are all ways we mark the passages in our lives. 

If you are certain that you would like to hold your wedding, child dedication and or Funeral or Memorial Service at First church please fill out the Building Use Form and return it to the Church Office  at 660 High Street, Dedham, MA 02026 or via email.

Weddings at First Church

First Church is a beautiful spot for a wedding.  Without a central isle a bride might walk up one side with her father and down the other with her new husband but the preciousness and solemness of the event is punctuated by the beauty of the meeting house.  The Church Green and Parish House are also available for weddings.  If you would be interested in viewing the space available for your wedding please contact the Church Office.  If you would be interested in talking to our minister about having a wedding in another location please feel free to contact her directly. 

Child Dedications

Unitarian Baby Naming ceremonies are meant to bring children into the love of community and recognize their important place among us.  If you would like to know more about Unitarian Universalist Child Dedications please go to the UUA Website.  If you are interested in having your infant or child dedicated at First Church please contact our minister.
